Markian Ivanichok – Influencing the Growth of Polkadot as the Next Blockchain

I believe good company culture leads to engaged employees, higher productivity and lower turnover.

Markian Ivanichok is the CEO of SuperColony. The company operates as a DAO venture studio designing and building companies by bringing together experienced blockchain talent, resources, and capital to compress time, iterate quickly, and scale more ambitiously than would otherwise be possible.

Tell us a little bit about your current projects. What exciting milestone would you like to share with our readers? (Don’t hesitate to delve into your achievements, they will inspire the audience)

Markian Ivanichok: We are a visionary company that intends to pioneer a Polkadot ecosystem. We see Polkadot as the next blockchain and we would like to influence the way it grows. We are not in the traditional market; the Polkadot ecosystem is a brand new paradigm! I have the privilege of having 20 members in my team who are experts in their field to achieve this goal!

Can you tell us a story about the hard times that you faced when you first started your journey? Did you ever consider giving up?

Markian Ivanichok: I had two years when things were moving in a downward spiral in my career and business. I realized there was a bigger calling, I had to motivate myself and intuitively knew I was the source and catalyst for change. I created Supercolony to make sure I could focus my inspiration and excellence. I am now achieving something that is mission and purpose-driven for myself and others whereas before in my career it was more process-driven.

What are the most common mistakes you see entrepreneurs make and what would you suggest they do?

Markian Ivanichok: They don’t pay enough attention to company culture. I believe good company culture leads to engaged employees, higher productivity, and lower turnover. When employees work for a company whose social atmosphere is less favorable, they may be less satisfied with their job. In contrast, a company with an uplifting workplace culture can energize workers and allow them to do their best work. A positive company culture could reflect on the products and services the business offers as well as customer feedback.

The Guide to Success: How to Become an Entrepreneur

Resilience is critical in critical times like the ones we are going through now. How would you define resilience?

Markian Ivanichok: I think in business the biggest problem is we have to solve one problem or we think and believe we are not meant to have problems. Rocky sums up resilience for me and my experiences:

‘Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!’

In your opinion, what makes your company stand out from the competition?

Markian Ivanichok: We connect founders to all of the necessary partners to achieve success in today’s crypto ecosystem. We have aligned ourselves with partners in every major crypto geography, including traditional trading firms, VCs, legal/compliance experts, marketing and PR firms, launchpads, and security auditors.

You are a successful business leader. Which three character traits do you think were most instrumental to your success?

Markian Ivanichok:  I am interested in transforming the blockchain ecosystem. I believe that the comeback is better than the setback. In addition to my vision for the future coupled with my bringing the best out of individuals, I work with!

Being a CEO of the company, do you think that your personal brand reflects your company’s values?

Markian Ivanichok: Yes, when I set up Supercolony I took the best parts of my values and made sure they were a part of the company’s values. However, it’s important to consider the whole team’s values rather than something I just imposed on the company. We at Supercolony believe in creating our values as a team and have a shared responsibility in bringing out the best in everyone. I believe nothing is impossible, although you need power and perseverance!

How would you define “leadership”?

Markian Ivanichok: I believe the greatest leader is someone who makes and creates more leaders! I am always open to ideas from my team. “It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do. We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.” ― Steve Jobs,  It’s a classic quote in the tech space that should not be ignored – I live by it!

What advice would you give to our younger readers that want to become entrepreneurs?

Markian Ivanichok: It’s a difficult question and there is no simple answer or formula. I would say “Just Do It” and be a gladiator!
